Closing Ceremony Cancelled

That's it. One of the finest non-event events.

The closing ceremony at Justin Herman Plaza for the Olympic torch was canceled, leaving thousands of protesters and average citizens hoping to get a glimpse with...nothing.

The flak over how the torch was handled will begin in earnest tomorrow, we'd guess.

For now, Gavin has delivered clean television footage to Chinese TV.

Photos of the entire day to follow shortly.

Yeah, but the footage didn't include any of the famous SF landmarks. Or loads and loads of fawning onlookers. But the Chinese have told their citizens that the reason the event was cut short was because Tibetan supporters threatened violence. (Yeah. 'Cause that's what they do, right?)

I'm betting they got some nice shots with the Golden Gate Bridge while the torch was in the Marina.
